MS Bisharo Halakhe
Chair

Ms Bisharo is a Bachelor of Education graduate of University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing professional insurance qualifications at the Institute of Insurance of Kenya (IIK). She has wide experience in private sector insurance, having worked as Bancassurance Officer at Equity Bank Insurance Agency and Business Development Officer at Jubilee Insurance Company. She is currently a manager at Takaful Insurance Company.

MS Faith Magadi
Member

Ms Magadi has over 5 years’ experience within the humanitarian and development sector. She has particular expertise in humanitarian project cycle management, proposal writing and project design. Her strengths lie in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) interventions and Participatory Disaster Risk Assessments (PDRA). Over the course of her career, Ms Magadi has developed and implemented projects in WASH, Food security, Livelihoods and Governance. She has worked with ASAL Communities in the Horn of Africa [Kenya/Ethiopia]. She holds a BA in Social sciences, Government and Public Administration from Moi University and is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Development Studies. She is currently a capacity building manager at RedrUK.

MR Mohamed Lochigan
Member

Mr Lochigan is a pioneer cultural and rangeland conservationist and community development worker. He was the first executive director, founder member and patron of Samburu Aid In Africa - an international NGO - and a board member of many local community organisations and schools. He is a respected Samburu elder and peace maker. He is well travelled and has a lot of experience in networking and resource mobilisation for community development initiatives. He is also philanthropic, having supported education of many pastoralist youths. He is a practicing pastoralist and has also established several primary/catchment livestock markets to support livestock producers get value for their money.

MS Madiba Duba Guyo
Member

Ms Madina Duba is an educationist with 19 years’ teaching experience at primary and secondary school level. She is also a trainer/facilitator on child-centred and gender-responsive teaching and learning environments. She is a group leader of a local women advocacy group. Madina holds a Bachelor of Education degree from University of Nairobi [2009].

Eng. Hussein a. Jirma
Chief Executive Officer

Eng. Jirma, has over 20 years’experience working with the government and international humanitarian organisations. He is experienced in WASH and roads sector policy, planning, development, and contract management at senior management level and inter-agency coordination. He also has regional experience and expertise in DRR/CCA training and programming, humanitarian response, drought early warning and contingency planning. He holds a BSc Civil Engineering degree from the University of Nairobi (1994) and MSc in Water and Environmental Management from Loughborough University WEDC, UK (2008). He is the founder of ISID and the current Executive Director.

Dr Hussein Tadicha
Programme Coordinator - (Research & Knowledge Management)

Dr Tadicha has over 8 years’experience in development work and research projects in the dryland areas of Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. He is well versed with vulnerability and capacity assessments of local communities to climatic hazards and designing of activities aimed at developing community resilience. He also has experience in development of organisational partnerships and capacity building of community based organisations in areas such as programme development, implementation, and project monitoring, evaluation and financial management. He has extensive experience in conducting research employing participatory approaches that tap into community knowledge. Dr Tadicha has published articles in peer reviewed journals in the field of environment and community resource management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Masters degree in Natural Resource Management and Sustainable Agriculture from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and PhD in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Kassel, Germany.

MR Mohamed Dida
Director of programmes

Dida has over 15 years of uninterrupted management and professional working experience in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Management and International Development & Humanitarian Assistance in the Horn of Africa with expert experience in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Somalia. He has worked in Government, ActionAid Kenya and Cordaid.
Mohamed Dida holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Planning & Management) Degree from Kenyatta University (1998) and is currently a Master of Arts (Advanced Disaster Management) final year student. He is also an alumnus of GIMI-Israel. He is specialised in disaster risk management, advocacy and policy influencing, participatory monitoring and evaluation methodologies, and food & livelihood security programme development, on which he trains and provides technical services.

MS Lucy Kirauni

Ms Kirauni is a trained educationist, journalist and development communication expert. She has over 8 years’ experience in national media and 8 years in multi-lateral funded ASAL resource development programmes. She is an accomplished writer and editor with expertise in both linear and nonlinear communication and passion for community access to information.
Ms Kirauni has experience designing and implementing community communication campaigns through use of a variety of communication vehicles. She holds a B.Ed (Arts) degree from Moi University – Eldoret and diplomas in Multimedia journalism and Online research & publishing from International Institute for Journalism in Berlin and Stockholm University respectively. She has additional training in Gender & human rights, Communication and social change and Lifeline communication programming. She is currently completing her thesis as part of an MA in Development Communication at Daystar University, Nairobi.
